ALL PROJECTS SHOWN ARE INDEPENDENT CONCEPTS.Go inside two projects ↓

The thinking.
Made visible.

Two independent concepts, explored through the brief, visual decisions and the move from a poster to motion.

01 / FRAGRANCELUXELight, contrast and a clear focal point.Concept

The self-initiated brief

Give a fictional fragrance a premium social campaign image. Make the bottle the focus, keep the brand readable and use one warm visual language across the poster and motion concept.

Audience
People discovering a fragrance through social advertising.
Existing output
4:5 poster · 18-second silent motion study
The original LUXE poster: brand on the left, amber bottle on the right.

Compare the supplied 4:5 poster with a new editorial layout created for this case study. The study crops into the bottle and gives the message its own space.

Three decisions that shape the image

  1. 01 / CONTRAST

Deep black gives the amber liquid and glass edges room to stand out. The brightest light stays around the bottle.

  2. 02 / HIERARCHY

The brand sits in the quieter space on the left. The bottle anchors the right, while the smaller supporting copy stays secondary.

  3. 03 / MATERIAL

Gold in the cap, liquid and reflection repeats one warm accent. That keeps the composition cohesive.

BlackAmberPale gold

From image to motion

The 18-second motion study uses close views, slow reframing and a full campaign reveal. Its amber-and-black palette connects it to the poster. The separate portfolio edit adds a faster rhythm and an original instrumental score.

02 / COFFEEABAY COFFEEOrigin, atmosphere and a warmer story.Concept

The self-initiated brief

Connect a fictional coffee brand to its Ethiopian origin. Balance a rich landscape with a readable headline, then bring the atmosphere into a short vertical motion concept.

Audience
Coffee drinkers discovering the brand in a social campaign.
Existing output
4:5 poster · 15-second vertical film with sound
Original ABAY COFFEE poster with highlands, coffee cherries, a cream headline and a cup in the foreground.

A new wide layout study puts the cup first and moves the headline into a simpler field. The poster master keeps the broader story of landscape, cherries and coffee.

Three decisions that carry the story

  1. 01 / ORIGIN

The highlands and coffee cherries establish a sense of place before the viewer reaches the cup in the foreground.

  2. 02 / READABILITY

The cream headline crosses the darker centre of the image. Warm light helps separate it from the green foliage.

  3. 03 / CONNECTION

The cup repeats the Ethiopian flag colours. Together with the beans and warm table, it ties the origin story to the coffee experience.

From atmosphere to a short film

The existing 15-second film holds warm detail views before its brand reveal. Instrumental music and subtle coffee-inspired sounds support the atmosphere. The 24-second portfolio edit uses a short extract as its closing project.

A direct approach.
A considered result.

I’m Dawit Negese, the designer behind DN Creative, based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

I like finding the image, the cut or the line of type that gives a piece its character. In my design work, that often means a focused product composition and a clear headline. In video, it means using pacing and sound to keep a story moving.

I work independently across graphic design, video editing and digital content. We start with what you want to communicate and where the work will appear, then shape a visual direction around that brief.
